MTAC's Fall Drug Take Back Events

Safe Disposal Prevents Rx Misuse

FallTAkeBackDaysResidents and parents can help prevent prescription drug misuse by turning in unused or expired medication for safe disposal at Massapequa Takes Action Coalition’s (MTAC) Fall Drug Take Back Days on either Saturday, September 21stat Plainedge High School from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. or Saturday, October 26th from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Massapequa High School East Driveway - District Office Parking Lot.

According to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), unused or expired prescription medications are a public safety issue, leading to potential accidental poisoning, misuse, and overdose. In the Massapequas, 51 % of youth (grades 7-12) who misused prescription pain medication found them at home (2018 PFS Survey).

Proper disposal of unused drugs saves lives and protects the environment. Instructions for drug take back: keep all medications in original containers; block out name for anonymity - do not cross out medication information; SYRINGES & SHARPS WILL BE ACCEPTED. Please remember: NO thermometers, IV Bags; NO Chemo Drugs; and NO Liquids of any type. Unable to attend?  Residents can drop off unused or expired meds (no liquids or ointments) any time/day at any Nassau County Police Department Precinct.
