Massapequa Takes Action Coalition (MTAC) supports Massapequa businesses and their employees that serve or sell alcohol by hosting FREE eTIPS Training, a self-paced, innovative approach to safe alcohol server/seller training. The skills based training is designed to prevent intoxication, drunk driving and underage drinking.

TIPS stands for Training Intervention ProcedureS and is an approved alcohol training awareness program by the New York State Liquor Authority. The training is part of MTAC's Drug Free Communities Grant initiatives to reduce underage drinking, intoxication and drunk driving. It is now offered in person, virtually or on-line. Click here for our TIPS Training flyer.

MTAC’s eTIPS Training is supported by the Town of Oyster Bay, Nassau County Police Department, YES Community Counseling Center's PACT Initiative and Massapequa Chamber of Commerce.

Whether you are an Off-Premise (convenience store, grocery store, liquor store, etc.) or On-Premise (bars, restaurants, etc.) business, the innovative training enhances the fundamental “people skills" of servers, sellers and consumers of alcohol. The FREE training, delivered by YES Community Counseling Center's PACT Project, provides the knowledge and confidence to recognize fake ids and potential alcohol-related problems to effectively intervene to prevent alcohol-related tragedies.

Businesses and organizations that use eTIPS benefit immediately by lowering risk and creating a safer, more responsible work environment. In addition, TIPS training can:

  • Reduce exposure to alcohol liability lawsuits and reduce penalties for alcohol violations;
  • Lower insurance premiums;
  • Improve customer service and satisfaction; and
  • Promote community safety.

TIPS training is also available inperson or virtual. If you are a business that serves or sells alcohol and are interested in registering for the next TIPS Training, please contact Brooke Langella, Project Coordinator, of Massapequa Takes Action Coalition at mtacoalition@yesccc.org or (516) 799-3000 x131.
