Drug Take Backs
Massapequa Takes Action Coalition’s Drug Take Back Events provide the community with a safe, convenient and responsible way to dispose of unused, unwanted or expired prescriptions and over-the-counter medications. The events are part of a larger, ongoing nationwide effort to collect unneeded prescription drugs from our homes, including controlled substances, for safe and legal disposal.
The events are scheduled twice a year (October and April) in coordination with the federal Drug Enforcement Agency’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. Take Back Events are part of MTAC’s Secure Monitor Dispose prevention campaign and provides a safe and supervised central location for community members to dispose of unused or expired medication as well as syringes and sharps.
MTAC collaborates with the Nassau County Police Department, Massapequa Public Schools, Community Action for Social Justice, Massapequa PTSA, Massapequa Chamber of Commerce and MTAC’s General Coalition and Steering Committee Members.
